bosch cdi pin out help

Hi guys

I am confused by the pin out of the later 6 pin Bosch CDI. There is a diagram on the side of the unit. Is that the diagram of the male pins on the unit or is that the diagram of the female connectors in the cable to the u nit. They would not be the same, they would be the inverse of each other. I did a search and found a cllassic post by Warren. Here it is.

]Here is the pinout looking into the connector with the mounting flange sitting on the hand or table ...

. 31/1 ... TD ... 31d

. A . . . . 15 . . . 7

==============

31/1 -- Power ground
31d -- Signal ground [green coax shield] for trigger signal

15 -- +14 Volt power lead

7 -- Trigger signal from distributor magnetic pickup coil

TD -- Tachometer Drive signal

A -- +460 Volt pulse output to coil

If I am reading this correctly, this is the schematic of the female connector and not the pins on the cdi unit. Can anyone confirn this or post an image of the connector so I can see the wire colors entering the connector.

Thanks

Tom,

The connections for 7 and 31/d are interchanged. The green wire should go to terminal #7. Send reply to atd911@hotmail.com and will forward the coded wire color for the 6-pin Bosch CDI.

The diagram on the box refers to the box male connector when you look at the connector. So the two GND connections are away from the flange.

I'm doing a fresh rewire on a car, so no remnant wires to trace or mimic...

Who was right here, Warren or Tom?

FYI im installing a 6-pin Bosch CDI, crane optical distributor, bosch blue coil. Interested in confirmation of the coil wiring too if anyone is up for sharing.

Thanks

When you look at the connector on the box that is what the sticker shows.

Perma Tune High Performance Ignition Systems

Permatune has a great pin out diagram.

I have posted this about eight million times. Amazing none of the old-school boys use this as reference.

Bob,

Please compare the schematic diagrams for Bosch CDI (factory manual) and the Permatune CDI (your attachment). The wire color coding is totally different and could easily confused anyone. I'm still having a problem following Permatune's wiring diagram using the OEM wiring harness (colored wires). However, Ingo's illustration although did not include the wire color coded wires is easy to follow. Thanks.

The Permatune diagram shows every input to the box.

If the female connector is intact there is no reason to have to match color codes to the factory diagram. The pin out, like Igor's picture and in the Permatune diagram is THE PINOUT.

I had no confusion.
