Free Road Trip - Interested?

As you might be aware, my car is still out in Rapid City, SD at my in-law's place. Several things have come up the last couple of months that have made it impossible for me to retrieve her. I have not thrown in the towell yet, but I thought I would test the waters here for a potential option.

I would like to know if anyone might be interested in driving my car back to the Memphis area from Rapid City. I would pay gas, etc, and we could discuss meals/lodging. It is an 18 hour drive from Rapid to my house here in Jackson, TN. I would then fly you home. So here is the fine print: the ideal candidate would be: someone retired or with plenty of time to kill; someone in the Denver or Vegas area (because of flight costs being kept to minimum). It will also need to be someone I feel I know to some degree from the board here, or at least someone recommended by such a person.

Here is your potential opportunity to see Memphis or Nashville (we live right between the two and you would probably fly home from Nashville), and if you have never been this way, the lovely feeling of humidity would await you as well. And heck, you can even eat some grits if you like.

The final thing is that we would need to work something out in the next couple of weeks or so as I will be going out there at the end of July anyway.

So, a lot to consider and think about. Please remember, there is nothing written in stone yet. Just trying to look at other options here. If seriously interested, please shoot me an email at:

Thanks

Shane--why don't you have it shipped? By the time you pay flight, meals, hotel, etc., you'd probably be close to the cost. I think.

I'd be more than happy to, but you'd have to get me from Seattle to SD first...

even without A/C!

SD is real nice this time of year. Some great sight seeing for somone not familiar with the Dakotas or the Badlands. Great people and a sweet area to visit when alone. It'd take me a week to drive through SD. Sure is better than driving through Kansas.

ride becomes bs and slow at the Great Lakes -> east.

ship it

I'm riding a m/c from Seattle to Louisville, mid July. I could ride to Rapid
City, drive your car to Louisville, and deliver to you after my convention. U fly me back to Rapid City and I ride home? I'm retired......Same difference to me.....

Shane, I had my 911 shipped from southern MD to Chicago for $550. Granted that was a year and a half ago but with the economy the way it is, might be in your favor. I used B&E
Transport based on a recommendation here on Pelican. They showed up at my BIL's house in MD right on time, and delivered here to me a hour earlier than they had promised. Can't ask for better than that. (606)354-3643. Only thing I'd advise is to have some of your own straps available. The 18 wheeler they sent only had 2 fabric tie down straps with them and used them to tie the rear wheels down, then used chains for the front factory tie downs. No big deal but just a thought.
