Throttle Plate Correlation via Leslie Rice

Throttle Plate Correlation via Leslie Rice. Let’s start out by saying that I have read pretty much all there is on MFI and have been fiddling with it for 15 years, but that makes me no where near an expert and that is why I have a few questions. I have a 72T that runs pretty damn good AND it has the original stacks.
1). Leslie sets up correlation a little different way than “some” do. He adjusts the air bleed screws 2 turns out (some 2.5,etc), removes rods, and then adjusts the TB stops to get the best results stating that this is one of the best ways to do it (leaving bleed screws set and not touching them).
Does anyone do it this way, or do you adjust the bleed screws like I do? I feel it’s time to use his method due to the age of my stacks.

2). He then does what a lot of people do and that is raise rpm’s using the hand throttle and if anything is off it’s probably due to rods lengths being out of adjustment.
Now, when adjusting the TB’s at 2000 "some" remove the rods again, but I’m reading/guessing that he puts the rods on, warms car up, sets rpm at 2000 and checks flow. If he finds an issue he adjusts the rods?
Am I right on what I’m reading?
Thanks

I just adjusted my MFI as Lee Rice explains, however, the MFI Manual points out that on the 2.4 ltr. to back out the air screws 1 1/2 turns. That's were I kept them and adjusted the throttle stops to get 1,000 RPM at 200 deg. At 3,000 RPM they were a little off so then I adjusted the air screws either out or in to get a even air flow at 3,000 RPM. At idle there a little off but right on at 3,000 RPM so I left it alone. I set this up at 200 deg. not the 180 deg. that I believe Lee does because when set at 180 deg. the idle will be a little high when in the 200 deg. area.

Thanks for the response. The amount of turns one uses seems to be all over the place. Some of these "how to” docs. were written when gas was much better than it is now, and for the most part, the TB's were/are pretty new. Based on what I have read, and your post, I will set the air screws to say 1.5 turns, but first since my car runs pretty well, I'll check what they are out now and ave them out. I will then "try" and set the stops at 950, give or take. Next I will raise rpms to 3000, check rod lengths if the stacks are reading weird, if not then I will just fine tune with the air screws and hope for the best.

I just checked how many turns out my 2.4 ltr. is at after what I indicated in my first response. # 1, 4 and 5 are almost 2 turns out, # 3 & 6 are at 2 out and # 2 is a little over 1 3/4 out. Car at 180/190 deg. idles around 900 RPM and at 200 deg. around 1,000 RPM. Excellant running from start up to 7,000 rpms. Another point that the MFI Manual states is not to have air screws out more than "8 half turns out" which is only 4 complete turns out. I believe they want enough vacuum for the vacuum advance on the distributor.
