Replacing old ignition switch cover
I want to replace the old and very scratched plastic ignition cover switch on my 80SC. It looks like an easy job, I think that I can handle it on my own. How is it removedd and are there any tricks that I should know in advance? Thanks, John

John, it just screws on to the switch collar. If you look at it, there are 2 small holes on the side of the cover. I used a small nail and gently hammered it loose. I painted mine and looks like new. 81'SC

John,
I believe the appropriate tool is a pair of snap-ring pliers. Did you ever get your electrical system demon exorcised? ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |

Thanks y'all. I just ordered some items from our host, should be here next week. I did get the electrical demon figured out Warren. Turns out it was a box wrench that got wedged between the battery post and the car body. Too much spirited driving loosened up my tool bag and shorted the system out temporarily. Everything is back to normal and running great!

Just a side note: If you look through a Performance Products or Tweeks catalog you can find a solid metal replacement cover that actually locks so your ignition cant be tampered with. Might be worth looking into.
