Old 911 A/C system

I think i am going to remove my old a/c system out of the trunk, the evaporator coil, blower, expansion valve. The compressor and hardware is missing. What do you guys think? It is a 1975 911s. Will i have to put a patch panel in on the fire wall?

Not sure, but with the fuel system up there a patch panel sounds like a good idea to avoid fumes and road noise.

I just bought a 75S late last year. It had a dealer installed ac system. Decided to remove it. Obviously the heaviest single component is the compressor. I was going to leave the front of the car alone but in the end decided to remove the front condenser/exchanger or whatever it's called. Wasn't difficult to put in a patch panel and seal it up with seam sealer. Hardest part was getting the unit out of the smugglers box. When I first looked at it I wondered how they got the unit in. Theoretically if you still have a good seal around the smugglers box lid and the steering shaft the cabin is still isolated from the gas tank. IMHO.
