#1 on the Cap

I'm in the process of converting from a Marelli to Bosch 008 with Pertronix on my 70T. I have spark and fuel but no start. I'm trying verify that I have the cap order and firing order correct.

1) rotor turns clockwise so I'm using 1-6-2-4-3-5
2) I set #1 as the wire above the hash in the distro (one before the clip)
3) I set the timing (cranking the starter) to TDC on #1

I searched and found some pictures that imply that #1 is after the clip.

Am I off by one?

Before you removed your old distributor did you turn the engine so that the Z1 mark on the crank pulley was aligned with the seam in the case and that the rotor pointed to the number one tower position? There is also a notch on the distributor body that indicates #1. The pictures you show look correct for the plug wires but unless the rotor is oriented correctly it's a moot point.

Turns out my plug wires were in proper order but in the process of moving from Marelli to Bosch I got the Bosch 180 degree out of phase. I pulled the dizzy and rotated the engine 1 time to TDC and it fired right up.

and good advice from Lufwaffle. always get your rotor on Z1 before pulling the cap or distributor.
