Pelican Announces the official rollout of our 3-Day for $3 Program!!!
For the past six years or so, we have been trying to figure out how to get parts to our Mid-West and East Coast customers quicker. So we took our FedEx agent's mother and locked her in a closet here at Pelican and told our agent that she could have her mother back after we got better 3-Day rates for our customers. Well, old FedEx Mom got a little cranky and the closet got a little stinky, but it was well worth the effort! We are pleased to announce the official unveiling of our 3-Day for $3 shipping program.
Over the past 11 years, I have been constantly asked by people who live on the East Coast for us to open up a warehouse there so that they can have speedier shipping. Well, as you might imagine, warehouses are expensive to stock, maintain and run, so we figured we would try to avoid that huge expense and ship our product quicker and more efficiently. Here's the official blurb on the program from our shopping cart: Quote:
We're able to offer this without raising our prices because we've worked hard to use technology to lower our fulfillment costs. Pelican has a really advanced back-end system that integrates warehousing, drop-ship vendors, and specialty items all in one system. The goal is to provide you guys with a HUGE selection of parts, while offering special shipping incentives for the mainstream parts that we can ship direct to you from regional warehouses. I hope you enjoy the new program, we feel it is another value-add for shopping with Pelican. We've also quietly rolled out some new improvements to the site that some of you may have noticed (lower tax rates for California residents who don't live in Los Angeles County, increased availability of Priority Mail, and the added option of First Class Mail on very small items like gaskets). In addition, we have some other exciting programs that will be unveiled in the next few weeks (discounted Saturday delivery, for example). We realize that you have a choice when it comes to where you purchase your European Automotive parts, and we just want to show you that we're continuing the effort to win your business now and into the future. Thanks again for your support, Wayne

Cutting edge Wayne. Very nice. I'm fortunate enough to live blocks from the El Segundo depot.

Thanks for this Wayne! Living in the East hasn't stopped me from buying from you in the past, but this will be a great improvement for us on the right coast.

If we need something in Russia in 4 weeks, we have to fly it there because it takes 3 weeks to get through their bureaucratic customs system... Algeria is a crap shoot. On our equipment, we need to weld everything down or it goes missing.

Bravo Wayne, this is great news. Thanks for keeping us in mind on the right side of the country. I just wish you had done it a few months ago when I spent a few thousand on parts. I think my parts would have been well over 8lbs anyway though.
One thing I have notice with my last few Pelican orders is that USPS priority mail is cheaper and MUCH FASTER than UPS or FedEx. I've used USPS for two of my last several orders, and both times I got the package within 2 days, where UPS and FedEx took about 5 days on average. What's the deal with USPS? Does it only work for small packages or something?

Oddly enough, I noticed that my last 3 orders (east coast) came USPS within 2 or 3 days (also light weight)... I commented on the survey on how much better east coast shipping was of late... And now it's even better, thanks Wayne ! It does make a difference for us East coasters, to be able to order on monday and wrench on the week end !

It is great to see that a company actually cares about their customers and contacts them in such a way, heads off!!!!
For what it's worth, the only comment I have ( I am in South Carolina) is that I had the worst experience her with Fed Ex. I do a lot of on-line shopping because we live in a rural area and they have drivers who cannot read house numbers or drop the stuff of at another house. I always try to get UPS and never had a problems with them. |

We've had problems with both FedEx and UPS. In certain areas at certain times they both seem to fall down...
