Question on racing seats
Does anyone know which racing seat would be period correct for a 1986 911??
What kind of seats would have been in race/rally Porsches of that period?? Thanks guys

My suggestion would be to use a one-piece fiberglass Recaro shell, upholstered in black cloth. There was a seat used in the early eighties 924GTS Club Sport that I think was similar to an early 935 seat in shape, which had a somewhat unusal, rounded headrest shape. Something similar may have been used in the 1984 911 SC/RS, although I can't find any decent pictures of it on the net.

Edit: I found a couple pictures of the seat in a 924GTS Club Sport:

Thanks guys,
I thought lollypop seats would be period correct but they do look a bit funny. Those seat in the purple car look great though, maybe even better then Recaro PP. Tell me more about them, brand, type, price... ( and please don't tell me there made of unobtainium...)

The only air cooled semi streetable factory specials from that era war the SC/RS. I've never seen good pics of the interior of those car, there are some guys here that have the manuals, perhaps they could share some info?
The 964RS used a seat that is very similar to the Recaro Pole Position

A.I.R. in Cali. is the only manufacture of these seat shells, and I the only one to have the pattern for the seat covers. They are narrow as these are a copy of the factory 935 seat, the molds are old and distorted. So they need work, I would say for convince the Recaro PP or the RS cup seat is close to the period correct look.

The original Recaro SPG was used at that point as well. It's till very similar to the current SPG, but without the pronounced rib and thigh support.
