Dashboard Heater Control Board
On my control unit, the 4 socket lights that plug into the rear of the unit are having a hard time staying installed. The receiving sockets seem to be greatly expanded and there is not a secure fit for the lights.
If this is from the lights getting too hot and expanding the receiving sockets, than how should you remedy the issue? Bill 1979 SC Targa |

Replace the panel->
I had the same issue with my -84. Scored a nice used panel from the parts for sale section on this board and replaced my old one. It's working good except I still can't move the heater lever all the way left or floor position. It was that way to begin with from about 1 year ago. The cable must have gotten a kink...

I had to replace mine because the front bezel was cracked. I managed to score the correct vintage used replacement from a fellow pelican. The replacement unit suffered from distorted lamp holder sockets. Its amazing how those low wattage lamps can heat the plastic that much. Anyway, my solution was to replace the bulbs with LED's and heat shrink them in place. I went with the white super brights and honestly don't miss that weak yellow glow at all.

Common problem as observed above and a huge hassle to fix. I used LED's held in place with silicon glue. Since these last about 500 years, I don't imagine anyone I know will ever need to go behind the panel again.
