Just to put a bit of closure on the issue....I got the parts today and installed them.
I believe it was a combination of problems, but the main culprits were a bad flywheel sensor and the fact that the distributor cap was not fully seated in position. It runs well now. Hopefully, I actually fixed most of the leaks.
