Sounds like you made a lot of progress over the weekend, congratulations. I would like to see some photos on level ground to see how the ride height and attitude look.

These seats, while not perfect will bolt in with little work and are very comfortable.
I had a set in my '67 912. Everyone that rode in the car was impressed with them, especially if they had stock seats in their car.

Long day in the garage, but it was worth it. The passenger door feels good as new.

We also:
- put in new bushings in the front a-arms
- put on fresh headlight bezels

As for the color, who knows. We'll have to check the codes because its all over the map. Its as if the entire car was dipped in Bondo, its everywhere.

Next up: pedal cluster rebuild, seats, speedo cable

I like what you've been doing to her!! She must be a real kick to drive, wish I had a 912 sitting around.

MichiganMat and MichiganMike,
I've got some stuff you might be interested in: a set of Corbeau seats I took out of my '69 912, complete with sliders and rail adapters. I also have stock 912 seats, but I'm guessing they are just as soft as the ones in your car. I also have a set of 14" Fuchs, interior bits, rear seats, after-market carpet, front struts from an '86....

I'm in east Contra Costa County. PM me if you are interested.

Doug

I say go with the scotch brite fuchs, not polished. The finish has lots of tiny scratches and you can keep imperfections to give it a little worn look. I did mine using the Bob Tilton method. Doing it over, I'd probably use a more matte paint.

Great job so far... I'd really do the wheels now, honestly, a long hood 912 doe snot look good nor ride well on modern wheels. Steel wheels or even a downgrade to 15" fuchs would be great... It just looks odd somehow with the 16s", like a a short guy with big feet... I think you will like the ride of that car better on stock rubber/wheels... You should definitely be able to sell yours and cover the expense !

I personally like the 16" Fuchs that are on Betty Blue. But since it's a 912, maybe a switch to 15's might be a good call...I don't know.

It might look good on a set of 15" Panasport Minilites. But I think I recently read that the minilites are actually heavier than Fuchs. Again, I don't know. But they'd sure look cool.

Most mini's are heaver than 15's but not than 16's.

I think he has a set of 14" Fuchs he is hiding that could work great.

This is how it could look with 14 or 15" fuchs and the right profile tire (remember on sale at tirerack for under $100 for a full set).

I would not have taken the trim off myself but I understand. Challenge is can make more of a rat or factory sports purpose syle depending.

Time for some cheap H5's and paint the rims silver or second hand H4's. Also if there is not need for the light from the fogs I would concider loosing them. If still need light put some aftermarket rounds up on top of the bumper near the horn grills.
