Power backrest adjustment

I have a 1985 911 Carrera which has power seats. What isn't working is the power backrest adjustment. It has a 4 way switch and 3 of the 4 positions work. The problem is the backrest is all the way down making it virtually impossible to drive. Is there any way to get the backrest up manually? Any suggestions on what my first approach should be to fix the problem?

Thanks

Dirty Switch.

Your backrest rocker switch has most probably accumulated some debris,
or the contacts are dirty.

Remove the screws holding the switch to the seat, spray some contact
cleaner available from your local electronics store into the switch.

There are several small holes in the switch housing that will accomodate
the spray nozzle.

Work the switch a few times to clear the malfunction.

Do not disassemble the switch assy.

Do not use WD40 as it is conductive.

Good luck,

Gerry

Contact Cleaner seemed to help. Switch doesn't work well but was able to get the back rest to a vertical position. Thanks for the tip.

Additional cleaning while the switch is being engaged
(back and forth) in all positions may be required.

Does the switch feel difficult to engage?

Good luck,

Gerry
