Installing clear stone guards?
Guys,
I tried installing new 3M stone guards on my 91 964 Turbo today and they look terrible. I can's get the darn thing pressed onto the piece hard enough to get it completely clear. What's the secret trick to putting these on? ![]() ![]() Thanks Brian

If you can peel them up, try a mild solution of water and dish detergent. Use a squeegie to force the air bubbles out. When the water evaporates, the adhesive will stick. I installed stone guards on my '95 993 C2 several years ago. No bubbles or peeling. From the amount of wear they are showing, I'd say they are doing a good job of deflecting stones away from my fenders. Good luck.

I would also recommend a hair dryer to soften it up a bit and allow it to stretch to the contours of the car. I installed a clear bra in this manner on my wife's Prius, which is loaded with compound curves. Just be patient and get it good and warm.

i put the clear stone guards on my G35. I used a spray bottle with soap and water, wet the area down that i was applying it on, and squeeged the air bubbles out. it dried in a couple of hours with no problems at all.

Just to follow up in case someone runs in to this issue 98% of the bubbles disappeared once the car sat in the heat/sun for a few days.
Use soapy water, get as many bubbles out as you can and let mother nature do the rest. Brian

Not sure if this will work as good on clear as it does on black but any bubbles left can be popped with a pin then smoothed out. Works fine on black. Maybe try in an inconspicuous place first.
