Help value the C.R.A.P car
Thought has been bouncing around of selling the race car. Some may know the car most probably don't. I have no idea what the hardtop brings to the table you won't find many around. What do you think a car like this should be priced at and more important what would a car like this sell for in today market.
Pretty much the last 7 years of the car is documented on Pelican. I will list the basics but the history since I got are in the following link. dfink takes over for "kurt b" 1984 Cab with removable Fiberglass Hardtop fiberglass front and rear bumpers 1985 915 tranny with factory LSD guard transmission plates 1985 suspension 22-30 torsions 22mm adjustable sways front and rear Koni yellow sport adjustables front and rear rear inner monoballs rear springplate neatrix 1984 3.2 engine bored to 3.4 built winter of 08-09 JE 10.5:1 forged pistons orginal cams reground to DC20 by camgrinder rockers rebuilt by cgarr rods rebuilt by EBS new chains ARP rod bolts all steel head studs supertec race springs 46mm PMO ITB's from clewett Electromotive TEC 3r with version 4 upgrade from clewett Heads twin plugged George's headers custom dynamax 2in 2 out muffler idles quiet - rocks when you open it up Dyno jet tested 273RWHP at 7000 rpm and still climbing Fuchs 16" X 7" & 8" Custom built fiberglass doors 10lbs each orginal doors still with car. 8 point custom cage car is balanced at 2250lbs with 100lbs lead in right front it has a 56-44 balance. front shock towers modified to achieve 2.6 neg camber Rear can achieve 3.5 neg camber At Lincoln pro solo was capable of 1.88 60 foot times.

Noah sold his for 20 a couple of years ago. I would say 20 to 24, but with a car like that it is worth what you can get for it. It's a cool car, but it will never be the RS/RSR/ IROC that so many are looking for.
BTW, I personally think that crap acronyms have a crappy subliminal aftertaste. It is an insider joke that not everyone will be able to digest. |

1/2 of what you have put into it.

Does the 1/2 rule apply to cars where the nearly all the work was done by the owner. In other words no labor costs to include in the build price. If I had to put a price on today I would think the 24-25K range would be about right.
Donor car $6000 glass bumpers $1000 Glass top $3500 not fitted Cage $1500 suspension $2000 Engine with PMOs and TEC3r $15,000 Race seats and harnesses $1000 Non of the above includes any labor inluding the engine build at least double the above for labor costs. (I think I would be low on that) and the cost to build this $60,000 + Am I off in that thought. It is easy to see how people get $100,000 + in a build.

Looks like good (and fun!) car, but it's kind of a "tweener". By that I mean that it's probably not what a guy who wants to go wheel-to-wheel racing will pay top dollar for (that type will likely seek a coupe) and it's not a weekend cruising cabriolet.
Personally, I would hold onto it. In today's market you're going to take a serious bath. |

You might be better parting it out and selling the engine separately.
For that whole car: $12-$14K. |

Every once in while you see a car with a for sale price that is way too high because the owner paid to have a bunch of work done. Reality sucks. It's exciting to see someone build a car like this because we know it is a labor of love - not a profit making scheme.

In another current thread in this forum, there is another heavily modified car that looks great and appears to be a nice driver. Apparently some Pelicans feel that since it isn't a bone stock SC, it is practically worthless.
