a/c quick question on 83sc

im switching to a sanden compressor from out host and dang if the fittings on the compressor are the o ring type and i have the older flare fitings...my wish is do they sell an adaptor?? well prob not so before i remove my 2 hoses so the ends can be changed out to the ones i was supplied with, ive gotten confused, IS the smaller hose that goes to the rear upper condensor the discharge side/hi, and the other hose the suction/low side ?????

Yes you can buy adaptors but the hose has to be the same thread. In fact you can get adaptors to go either way (flare to o-ring, o-ring to flare) as long as the fitting is the correct size. When I changed from my York to a Sandan 508 I had to get a new high side hose made as the fitting was smaller and 90 degree fitting to compressor worked much better. To be honest I had a low side hose made also because to clear oil filter it needed a 90 degree fitting also.

NAP is a good source of A/C specialty parts not supplied by the host. Adaptors are not listed on the site so you will need to call and they have what you need in stock.

+ 1 on JM's reply. I went to my local Napa store with my old hose and fittings, went through their catalog and had my new hose two days later. I think it's better to just replace the entire hose than cobble up your existing hose with more fittings and adapters. This way you get a new hose with the right ends, and the cost isn't that much. I replaced the high side hose from the compressor to the Procooler/drier for about $64.00.
