Question 84-89 Size of Idle Adjustment Screw Oring

Hey Fellas,

Last couple of days my idle dropped and stayed around 700 RPMs at stops.

I found the O2 Sensor had disconnected, bad crimp, so I reconnected it but the idle was still not where it should be.

Which is odd because I have not messed with it since my last AFR Adjust and Base Setting.

So next step:

I tested my base idle, jumpered at B&C and for some crazy reason the Base Idle dropped to 700 RPMs . WTF???

I prompty raised the RPM's to 880 RPMs but it was being inconsistent when I blip the idle. Sometimes it would go to 920RPMs then I adjust to 880RPMs, Blip then it changes again to 800RPM's.

Then it dawned on me, the Idle Adjustment Screw was Hissing. POSSIBLE VACUMM LEAK? I always thought this was normal.

Then just to test it, I jiggled the screw around and hissing got bad to worse.

Question: do we know the size of the Oring OD/ID?

A thread stated 1/4" Diameter but not specific if it was ID or OD.

TIA

Well, just got back from Pboys, well they got a Metric Oring Set but here is the problem:

8MM ID/12MM OD
or
10MM ID/14MM OD

The OEM part appears to be 9MM ID/13MM OD

I used the 10/14, a tight (too tight) fit and the hissing subsided.

Crap, it looks like I am calling Wayne. WIIT, might as well get a cap

wish I could help you, dude. Seriously, I've wanted to get in there to check out my air/fuel mixture. I've followed some of your ventures into this, because I know relatively little about it. So don't be surprised if you get a PM from me about this in the near future.

Hi Draco,

I just replaced my idle screw and it still hisses, so I am assuming this is normal. Did you fix this with a new screw?
