questions about this car.

This dealer says this is original and correct. Is PORSCHE supposed to be missing from the engine lid??

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-PORSCHE-911T-COLLECTORS-DREAM_W0QQitemZ190327292283QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_C ars_Trucks?hash=item2c5064017b&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245

Also.. is the exhaust tip correct? Door panels? Is this a real bid? Cuz I dont think this car is worth that kinda money???

The exhaust tip is installed backwards, door panels are not original/correct. I spot what appears to be some overspray on the front trunk latch mechanism. IMHO, it may be worth mid to high teens.

I could look at it for you and find out what they are trying to hide or what they don't know about.

The door panels and radio could be fixed. The details from the poor repaint... impossible to say without seeing it in person. If they didn't fully disassemble it, what else did they cut corners on?

also note that in the write up they say the "factory a/c works great" can't quite see it in the engine shot...

You forget.....Factory A/C in 70 consisted of opening the vent windows....rolling down the side windows....popping open the quarter windows and blasting down the road.....I had a 70T....I loved the ventilation.....I miss it on my Carrera....I still dont use A/C though....not that it is that good to begin with.

'74 exterior mirror, '72/'73 seats, replacement dash. Factory AC cars have air cleaner snorkle to the left and there are no AC vents in the interior (under dash) engine grill appears to early. Pretty colour!

+1, many tell-tale signs of a poor prep job before painting. I'm not sure if the new paint is a match with the old.

Could be hiding a fair bit of rust? I'd look a little closer before buying.

Curvature of front hood looks wrong on passenger side such that the shut line is not even. Shows up on the close-up of the passenger headlight and the front-on shot. +1 on pretty color. Just love these bright colors on long hood cars. Cheers, John

I have that car listed as having paint code 2020, but it does not have the usual badge for 1970. It may be that the badge changed prior to this car being built, but since the DOT decal has been replaced by the repair decal (with incorrect VIN on it), I don't know the date of build. If someone does look at the car, please get a good shot of the paint code badge please. My mistake, that is a Karmann body car, so the badge is the correct one.

That car looks exactly like a 911T I used to drool over when I was at SJSU back in the early 70's ... same color with a personalized plate "BLU MAX" !! (like the German WWI air medal)

As previously noted, the real "problem" with the ad is the use of the terms, "correct and original," IMO. The car looks very nice but the dealer apparently knows little of the details regarding Porsches--especially early cars (note that the Porsche logo is not in the dealer's web page design.)

The car seems to be on consignment and the dealer did the "restoration" with his own concept of "correct and original" which meant using Porsche replacement parts (regardless of year) and Porsche correct materials (regardless of model/year proprietry.) The amount spent (in excess of $25k) most likely includes his overhead costs for labor--an amount he would be paying out, regardless.

The fact that his shop did the rebuild would be most troubling to me, without further investigation. Given what is advertised as "correct and original," just how "correct" was the rebuild done by a dealer that doesn't seem to understand the uniqueness of these early cars, and does not advertise them as part of his expertise?

Going by my car, the pins in the door hinges shouldn't be painted, the bolts on the rear lid latch mechanism shouldn't be painted, just looks like they did a really poor job prepping for a repaint.

I'll agree with everyone else - $25k in new and improved stuff doesn't equal original. investigate further before dropping money.

looks really clean overall but a couple of things to add to the comments above, very small stuff but:
rear lenses are cheaper repros, bosches look 1000% better in the brake/red area. front lenses look repro too from the photos.
think the sunvisors should be tan when parked "up" on a 70, (may be wrong on that one.)
is the muffler spray-painted silver? or is it the photo?
rs door panels were a cheaper solution. maybe suggestive of the rest of the work carried out on the car?
sill step on drivers side should be aluminium (might just be wrong on that too.)
and like the post above the later mirror annoys me.

i'd like to see it underneath, the sills, and the trunk, smugglers box, and battery area
but beautiful colour, sweet car.

It's probably obvious by now, but the color/colour is not "Turquoise" as described. The code 2020 indicates Pastel Blue, and the paint in the photos looks pretty accurate (if not high-quality). I had a Pastel Blue '70 E (w/PORSCHE lettering on the rear deck).

John
