Not too far away in Lancaster Co. As far as events there is the Hershey swap in April and there is a German auto show in Berks Co. in July. Join the Reisentoter (sp?), Central PA or one of the NJ PCA clubs and they will have plenty of events to attend.

Early 911 Cars & Coffee type event @ Valley Forge National Park sponsored by RTR-PCA this AM from 8:30-10:30. Heading that way soon, I hope...

Great, thanks everyone.

I'll register for the PCA in my region.

I noticed, though that most events in the PCA Reisentoter are Autocross events.

Thanks

Stephan

Stephan,

I've noticed that as well, and someone at yesterday's event had the same lament - that RTR-PCA was heavily focused on DEs and AXs. This person was concours focused, which isn't my main focus either. My ex-VW mechanic, who recently restored a 912, suggested I look at joining Schattenbaum region which is in central NJ. I live along the Delaware River and am closer to NJ than to most of the locations in PA where RTR holds events, so it's a consideration.

For me, I joined PCA primarily to connect with local Porsche owners and pick brains about local resources, especially with early 911 people. The first RTR-PCA event I attended was a monthly meeting @ the famed Holbert's in Warrington. Big crowd and after talking to many I found I had the oldest car of the lot (at least I didn't run into anyone else with an older car). I was glad for yesterday's event as it showed me there were a significant number of early 911 folks in the region.

As for what I plan to do with the car? Probably spend the bulk of this year learning it mechanically and mastering it behind the wheel. That may eventually require a DE. I think my AX days are over having done some in my Subarus (don't laugh - they held their own). Someday I'd love to do something like a New England Mille or Carolina Trophy, but I'd have to find a partner in crime who'd tolerate the event as my wife wouldn't. For now it's enough for me to make some local events, use the car regularly and take my family places. This morning my 5-year-old told me he's "tired of your gray car" and only wants to go places in "your green toy car"!

July 12 is an autocross with the local pca. If you want to come out give me a call we can meet some where and you can follow me up. If you want register and drive your car in the competition. Try typing rtr pca in your search engine on internet and you should get the local pca forums. They will have all the events in the area listed. give me a call Jim 267 784 7105

Thank you CRATER64 for these good words of advise. I too would like to connect with people to find out more about my own car and develop some technical skills abilities as well.

Jim "Crashmy911" I may take you up on your offer. Are you refering to the Porsche and Aircraft event in Reading for the LGD fundraiser? If so I was very interested in attending anyway (observing for now).

Although, was an active participant in race event in my youth (motorcycles), I am still very new to the Porsche and autocross world. I would hate to have a fender bender or plaster my ride in the wall at my first event.

I have subscribed to the RTR a few days ago, although membership credential takes a while to receive, would I be able to attend event without the proper credential in hand?
