Engine Back in Car
With help form Andrew15, I decided to refresh my 2.7 instead of putting the 3.2 with G50 into my track car.
The engine was a stock CIS 2.7 with back dated exhaust and pertronics. It ran great but I hated getting passed on the straights by just about everyone. ![]() The engine is now running 9.5:1 JE pistons which cc'd out to 9.8:1, DC40 cams, stiffer springs, Weber carbs with 34mm venturis, same old school exhaust but with a Bursch muffler. ![]() The car is also all repainted now - I had an unfortunate incident during a wind storm this winter where the temporary car shelter pounder the hell out of my car during take off before crash landing in a neighbor's field 1/2 a mile away. ![]() A forklift is a handy tool for all sorts of stuff... ![]() So my first Solo1 session is on Monday. I just have to reinstall the windows, bumpers, interior, hook up the oil lines, install roll bar, regrease the cv joints... I think I'll be running the C4.

looks great, excellent color choice, glad you ditched those 993TT wheels, I just don't like them on 911/930s.

I'm really interested too in your new motor. I am in the same boat you were in - I have a 2.7 CIS that runs fine, but would like more HP. Interesting that you chose to stick w/you 2.7 instead of doing a swap to have more displacement. Did you notice a difference after the refresh of your 2.7?
Thanks, Tom

The car runs great. I am running 34mm venturis and am likely going to switch to 36mm and bigger jets.
There is little power below 3000 rpm but this works out OK with thr 77 gearing. You are on cam in 4th and 5th at highway speeds. You can't drive 50 mph in 5th gear anymore - you are lugging it. The HP is very addicting. To do it again, I would go with a rev limited in the MSD (6AL instead of 6A) and not run the speed limiter in the rotor. The engine should make power to 7000 rpm but the cut off is at 6500. The car pulls very hard at 70 MPH without downshifting. I also had my distributor recurved to mechanical advance RS spec. Thanks for the compliments - the wheels actually came with the car - they are ROH wheels that I sand blasted and rattle can'd with black metalic semi gloss paint. Thet look much better black than they originally did. I only switched back to these becasue I got a good deal on 17" R-Compound rubber. The engine is alot louder - if you plan on daily driving, you probably want to keep your sound deadening pad. I am running the Bursch muffler and it sounds great (don't believe everything you hear about the Bursch).

Very nice Scott, quite an upgrade, both performance wise, and looks wise.
