Targa top cover on the cheap
Now that we're fully into summer, I'm using my Targa without the top more and more. But when parked, if you want to keep the sun or malicious eyes out, the Targa top is a bit of a pain to unfold and install repeatedly...
I've looked at the Carbrella but is a tad expensive for what it does. So I went and made my own version. I grabbed the biggest sun shade I could find and added strips of foamed PVC for some rigidity. It is kept in place by 2 suction cups and 2 velcro strips... It looks "kludgy" but it does the job ! ![]() |

Great idea
is that sunshade a double wall? if so you could split it and slide a piece of dowel into it to keep it from puddling with water in a small rain. im going to check this out as we have two targas and ive been looking for a solution. during my search for a solution i have walked by these sunshades in the parts store and it never even crossed my mind. thanks for posting. cheers ed

The really cool thing about it is that it supports that little guy walking across the top of your car?

I've been using the Carbrella for several summers now and it's great but a little pricey. I've used fabric paint to refresh it from time to time, but this odea seems to be great , especially considering that the Carbrella is $150!

Besides, the sunshades are way more reflective than the Carbrella, thus keeping more heat out of the car...
