I have the same question, Norm. Got a '77 911S w/o air, and I'm DYING here in Hawaii. My wrench recently recommended that I purchase a "complete kit" from ICE AC out of San Diego. (www.iceac.com) He recently purchased a similiar kit for a customer of his and reported that it was truely a complete kit (all quality parts)and VERY easy to install. ("easy" being a relative and subjective term.) He suggested that it was SO easy that his customer did most of the installation himself bringing the car in for a final A/C system inspection, evacuation and recharge.
Anyhow, I called ICE yesterday, and they apparently have two flavors of kits for cars of our vintage. One kit will work through the (small) dash vents, the other kit includes the vents that bolt on below the knee pads. Both kits run around $1300.00 or so, plus shipping and tax where applicable. I was hoping that someone here had a good/neutral/bad experience with the products from ICE and is willing to share it before I make my purchase. Anyone? ------------------ Carlton '77 911S Targa w/3.0 |
