Calling out BlueSky

Alright, tonight I went to our local PCA region dinner night. I finally got to see BlueSky's RS. Holy smokes! What a car. Wish I had taken some pics, but all I had was my cell phone and it woudl not have done any justice. This car is detailed and gorgeous. A car to be envious of for sure... so this is my attempt to get him to share with others. He's a little modest... Come on Dave!

ok...ok...

ok Shane....thanks for the kind words about the car.....I've been trying to stay off the grid since it's been a work in progress and since it is not as nice as many others on here, but since you've brought it up, I'll share....(I'm at work so I'll post the two pics I have here)

Background
  • The car is a 1973 911T
  • I've owned it for +15 years and have 'restored' it twice now...this recent one took 2 the last years
  • it is set up to be sorta like a Carrera RS
  • Color is Riviera Blue (Glasurit mix formulas show it to contain the same exact tints as Glasur Blue except they have different percentages)
  • Carrera/SC flares in rear & aluminum trailing arms
  • 15"Fuchs (7 & 8)
  • 3.0L with 40 IDA Webers, SSI's, and 2-in-2-out sport exhaust makes it more of a "hotrod" I guess instead of "replica/clone"

Thanks go to:
  • Jerry Palmer at Personal Touch Bodywerks here in Memphis for the bare metal Glasurit repaint & installation of the interior
  • Pat Williams for a ton of work on this car.....some recent highlights are he rebuilt the orig mag case 915 trans and re-did the 3.0L motor (one that he built for himself) so that it looks and performs like a RS motor...even though it's not a 2.7....complete with red shroud, black valve covers with "Porsche" in silver, correct black plug wires (the motor is my favorite thing about the car)
  • Sonjay for the Ducktail
  • Marcos at King of Trim for the bright-dip anodizing of all of the trim (thanks to dtw for his expert advice & turning me onto them)
  • Wayne for new parts from Pelican (I did get a few things from Stoddard & Performance as well )
  • Bob at Appbiz for the charcoal Perlon RS interior & door panels and inside sound pad
  • Porsche for the new rear window...thanks also to Ryce Stallings for taking time to ship a nice used rear window only to have the carrier shatter it into pebbles.
  • Surco for the H4 headlight relay
  • joelkaplan for the flat 370mm Prototipo replica
  • Getty Design for the front & rear RS bumpers
  • mikez at NBDgraphics for the black Carrera decals
  • joeyjudge for aluminum dash fascia trim pieces and gauges
  • jhg41977 for the correct small 72-73 rear-view mirror
  • Many others of you here on the Pelican BBS for selling me parts or buying my parts to fund my purchases (still have quite a few nice things to sell)

Next Steps:
  • Take out the white gauges and replace them with the black gauges getting fixed up at North Hollywood Speedo (cleaning, speedo re-calibration, and 7500 red-line tach)
  • Replace Recaro SPD seats with more vintage-look seats like Scheel 300 style seats.....my transmission /motor work spent the funds saved for these so it's giving me time to decide. I'm looking at either Stefan's GTClassic seats that have the comfortable elastic bands or Gerrit's NML-Depot seats that has the firmer fiberglass shell construction.....I appreciate input from anyone with any insight on these seats.
  • Correct hood crest sticker from TRE

Shane, it was good to see you and the others last night....Jay's pristine black SC was beautiful and Chuck's 993 with the Aero1 kit was spectacular.

After you left a couple of other guys showed up.....a new silver/lobster RS60 edition Boxster and a new silver/chocolate GT3....both were beautiful!

See Dave, that was not so bad...

Your car really is a masterpiece Dave. Chuck and I are still talking about it.

Thanks to you, Chuck and Jay for the push last night. Guess I know what project is next on the list for me. If you have it, please email me Jay's contact info. I forgot to mention the SCWDP to him last night. He might get the lowest mileage on a running SC award (less than 25,000 miles on that beauty). Also, let me know a good time and maybe I can finally come take a look at those bumpers. Shoot some pics if you have time.
