Removing Side Windows

I am working on removing the side windows in preparation of painting for a 76 911s. I removed the 5 screws on the metal stripping on the bottom of the litte window, i removed the screws holding the latch, and I removed the 4 screws that appeared affixed to the hinge. What next? How do I get the window out?

On a similar question, the black trim that is on the door post (seat belt bolt goes through the trim)...how do I remove it? Just peal it off? I am replacing the headliner.

The trim is glued onto the post. Just peel it off.

The way I usually see guys get the quarter windows out is to sit in the back seat on the other side, stick your foot on the glass near one corner, and push it out. Don't kick, just push gently but firmly and the seal will start to let go. Then run outside really quick and catch it before it shatters on the ground.

He's talking about a swing-out rear window, not the fixed kind. I'm guessing--guessing, mind--that you just pull the window out of the rubber at its leading edge.

You have done the hardest part. Now, just push the window straight out at the hinge points. They just set in by friction. Try not to dislodge the rubber around the outside unless you intend to replace it. Now that is the real trick. I just spent 1.5 hours/each pressing in new rubber gaskets, hands are tired...not fun, just as you think you have it "snapped" in another section snaps out. The only thing worse would be to replace the seal that holds the glass in the frame. Don't loose the spacers on the latch, they are important.

If, as Steve suggests, you are trying to remove a flip out window, you only need to remove the two latch screws from the C pillar, and the four hex head bolts from the B pillar. Then, push the window outward at the B pillar. Those four hex head screws go through two tabs on the window frame that fit into the B pillar. They're a tight fit, so it will take a bit of outward pressure to get them out. Be careful to restrain the window on the outside to prevent it from suddenly popping free from the outward pressure. It's heavier than it looks and could end up falling to the floor, or sldiing down the side of the car.

The 5 screws in the sill trim only secure the trim. The window will come out without removing the trim.

The picture below shows the B pillar tabs I'm talking about. Note also that this picture shows the frame separated in the corners. This is because the pictures were taken during reassembly after replacing the inner window seal. If you are not replacing the seal or the glass, do not separate those frame pieces. They're really tough to put back together.
