Can anyone advise me on how to replace the turn signal switch on an '87. Looks tedious.

It is. You have to disconnect Batt cable, pull steering wheel, remove wiper plate, remove cover around column, unscrew switch, pull the electrical plug to it. Uninstall is the reverse. If your memory isn't great than take digital pictures at each step of the way so things will go back together correctly. Be sure to have the steering wheel centered and marked then reinstall the same position. I did ours 3 or 4 years ago and you just have to take your time. Good luck.

remove st. wheel. remove plastic housings and 2 screws on switch. with you upside down under dash with a penlight in your teeth, unplug the round plug from switch to cowl and pull off the single wire from that loom. next pull off headlight switch knob and attaching plastic ring and wiggle headlight switch out from under dash. make note of where the 4 wires attach to the headlight switch, and either pull them off or clip the wires leaving an inch of the colored wire on the switch for reference, along with the single wire that hangs off that loom and pull the disconnected wiring out thru the tight little slot below st. column. re- assemble in reverse order. tie up wires with zip ties.
