rare colors is there production numbers.

just wondering i did a search and didn't find anything. i have a 79 930 that is oak green and was wondering how many came this color. i have only seen a handful of this color car. im kinda thinking it wasn't a popular color in its day and they have been repainted to the favorite reds and blacks.

any help would be great this is just because im curious.

sorry for the crappy garage pic.

cheers ed

Seems it was a popular color from 76-80. Cristine was that color, she was repainted in the 90's to her present color. I'm thinking to repaint her back for the stealth factor.

Good luck! I tried to do this with Ruby Red. I was told by someone at PAG that they just did not have that kind of detailed info. Always seemed to be a blowoff to me, but maybe they did not. If you have better luck, please let me know.

BTW, Oak Green is one of my favorite colors on a 911. Very cool for me!

Love the color--it looks like the only 930 they had in the museum last time I was there. I liked it with body color Fuchs and '70s plaid interior as well.

Regarding getting a brush off from PAG, I don't believe so. Our cars predate computerized records, so doing database searches like that are pretty manual. Probably true of most industries. Just my $.02.

Damn! That is one gorgeous car! So emblematic of the period. Where are the rest of these cars!? Shame to think that someting like that would be repainted for a color change.

yea thats a cool car i love my stealthy oak green it has a very classy look with a full leather chocolate interior. most everyone ask me if its a stock color.

so a no go on the rarity. rare that i ever have to park to another Porsche this color so i think thats rare enough.

cheers ed

Mocha brown is a fantastic color. So good they seem to have brought it back. Saw a Cayman a similar color to that. It was purty!

My '77 Carrera 3.0 had green leather interior, but no plaid.

More Mocha please

Go Mocha Brown
Back in April I walked the parking lot at the Hershey meet, had to be over 600 cars, and not a Mocha Brown car in Chocolatetown, USA except mine. I got a number of thumbs up.

Love the color

The NATO Green 930 here is the grail. If I ever buy a 930 to restore it will go NATO green.

Love that museum 930! Some of the interiors from the 70s, I think, are really unique and set the mood for the period. It makes the interiors from the 80s and 90s look pretty dull. How many people ripped out that cool plaid for something different?

There was another light green metallic 930 posted here several months ago that was also stunning.

Anyone would think high-speed scanners had not made it to Germany yet

For the cost of producing one Christophorus issue they could probably scan their entire paper records of production into searchable PDF files and maybe then they could at last get their certificates of authenticity correct Cheers, John
