[HELP] Who could help me to confirm if my 911 2.4T is matching numbers ?
Hi !
I'm going to buy a 911 2.4T 1972 coupé, sold in USA, and I would want to know if it's matching numbers. Porsche France told me they need 2 or 3 weeks to search the answer, because this VIN is not in their data But maybe someone can ask Porsche USA for me ? Tanks a lot !!! ![]() Lionel Last edited by Lionel; 09-03-2009 at 12:20 AM.. |

Consider yourself lucky that you can even get this information for free from your dealer at all. Porsche USA dealers will refer you to a 800 number and require you to pay over $100 for a "Certificate of Authenticity" which may or may not be accurate.

In France, if you want the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, you have either to pay (160€ ... 220$ ! )
but you can call Porsche France, and ask if the VIN matches the engine number, and they say yes, or no, and it's free ![]() in my case, the delay for the answer is about 2 or 3 weeks, because the car doesn't come from France, but from US, so they have to request Porsche Germany datas ... and it takes more time ![]() so, I tought that maybe, somebody in the US could help me, because the car comes from here ![]() Last edited by Lionel; 09-03-2009 at 06:43 AM.. |

I called the 800 number (the phone # listed on porscheusa.com to obtain Certificate of Authenticity) about a year ago regarding my '71 USA market 911T.
Once I gave the Porsche phone rep my VIN, he put me on hold for a couple of minutes, came back and at my request he read off the Engine # over the phone, + read off my car's other options at the same time. I did end up ordering the $100 COA, but the phone rep still gave me the info before I had committed to ordering anything. Give it a shot, maybe they'll tell you over the phone.

yes, my engine number matches up to 72 MFI 2.4 T
but it doesn't mean my car is matching numbers It just means the car has the right engine ![]() Last edited by Lionel; 09-04-2009 at 08:03 AM.. |
