Are vacuum assisted brake bleeders needed on 911
I was at WGI this past week and a Instructor trying my car thought my brake pedal was soft. I told him I had just bleed the brakes via speed bleeders. His comment was all 911 brakes need to be bleed with a master cylinder vaccuum type device in order for all air to be removed. Your thoughts?

I prefer to use a combination of BOTH methods. The vacuum works well but I feel better knowing the pressure from the MC is pushing the fluid out. I guess I am a belt & suspender type of guy.

You can do it either way, I use a m/c pressure bleeder at home, but don't carry it on the road.
vacuum bleed is a third way to do it, many don't like this method because air can bleed back into the caliper if the lines to the nipples aren't tight

You do not need to do anything special to bleed the brakes on a 911. Pressure, vacuum, gravity, or pumping the pedal all work just fine.
May I ask what fluid and pads you are using, and if you have ducting to the front brakes?

i use my wife. most of the time just gravity. i had a cap with a shreder valve and would put that on with about 2-3 psi to do it by myself.

says here to be careful to _not_ depress the pedal to the floor while pumping the brakes. Hope this is not the case with your brakes.
BTW, I like Speed Bleeders. Very good and simple concept.
