Wink Save the Flash

This may sound dumb but what does "save the flash" mean? I have not heard this before?

it is a recommendation to female porsche drivers to bare their chest at a passing fellow porsche driver.

Just follow Warren's link. It will explain. The short version is: flash your high beams at other Porsche drivers to say hi.

Don't know how early "flashing" started, but we were flashing other VW Bugs in the late 1950s and early 60s. Bugs were few and far between in those days, especially out in Colorado.

Notice how the 'flash' is supposed to be used for all Porsches, not just 911s

OK, here we go again - - Ahmet - I have never received return flashes or waves from any other Porsches EXCEPT 911s. I have even passed 944s and 993s in the WashDC area and looked over to wave - they don't look back, wave or even acknowledge my presence. Go figure.
-
However, I did feel good yesterday when filling the tank in Warrenton, returning from a trip to Charlottesville to Reston. Two kids, about 18 years old, in a plain-jane Toyota, Nissan or some Asian car (they all look alike to me) pulled along side and stared at the SC. I haven't yet taken out the Brey Krause harness strut, with the harnesses still attached. After about 30 seconds of staring at the wheels, tires, tail, strut, etc., they catch my eye, give me a serious smile and one says, "bad ride". Gave me a warm feeling!

when I bought my 911 in 1970, everyone was flashing! 356, 199, 912's. Sold it 5 years later, bought it back in 1990 and was surprised how it disappeared, except older Porsche owners. Let's get it going again!

Also look at the recent thread dated 6/10/01 for additional discussions on your question.

About our water-cooled brethren not flashing: is that practical for them? I'd think with the concealed headlights, it would be a more complicated, longer process than simply tugging the turn-signal lever.

I'll flash if I'm paying attention.
The older 911's will usually flash back. The rare chance of seeing a 356 will almost surely get you a flash. Newer 911's almost never. And Boxster folks don't have a clue what it's about.
