Actually in fact Turbo-Looks came with no badge at all, not Carrera, not Turbo.

It says so in the Anderson Book and the Many turbo look sites that have that info

Lose the badge. More understated and much easier for cleaning and polishing.

Car looks great!!
I would leave the "Turbo" badge, one of the shop guys
at the Porsche dealership has a turbo look and he has
the late model "911" badge that look very good.

LOL, last night I put a black "turbo" badge on the back of my 911SC.
I know for a fact it didn't come with one, but I think I can get away with it

Mine is came with Carrera script. Not sure if it was installed by previous owner or came from the factory that way.

Be sure to check out the turbolook yahoo group.

With those amber turn signals and the non-black Porsche script on the rear reflector I would think that the PO did some rear end cosmetic work wich most likely inlcuded the Carrera script on the tail

I would go badge-less. That way your car is "correct" and you won't have to explain to people why the turbo badge, but no turbo engine. It just turns a negative perception into a positive one. "The turbo look, suspension and brakes with the reliability of a normally aspirated car!".

Yeah, I'd go badgeless as well. Better still, install a normal decklid or a 964 decklid, and get a cool "C2S" look going.

badgeless is better in my opinion - makes folk wonder what is under the hood. (tunk or whatever you want to call it)

Mine also came with a Carrera script that barely covered the holes from the original 911SC script. It's not a factory turbo look though. Car is at the paintshop right now and holes will be filled in. The previous-previous owner had turbo look fever, car came with a bra with a turbo logo and even the headlights had a turbo script etched in the glass!

First time posting a picture, so hope it works. I just picked this up a few weeks ago. An 84 Turbo Look (factory option). The local porsche dealer said to look under the hood and if it was original there would be a paper sticker with the options. There it was and after checking the options found that it was in fact original 'Turbo Look'. All seems to be original and it has the Carrera badge on the back. Love this car so far. My second Pcar, so far.

Could not get the image to post. Will try later.

I agree with those saying: NO script. Originally, M491 optioned Carreras came with plain engine lids. Emblems, in most cases, were applied by the dealership at the request of new owners.

A good way to remove the offending "Turbo" emblem is by simply using some dental floss. Just slip it under the leading edge of the emblem and the surface of the deck lid and "saw" your way thought the adhesive backing. The remaining film can be removed from the engine lid by gently rubbing the surface, using a clean cloth and a mild solvent (like mineral spirits). When finished, just wax the area and you’re done!

I had to deal with the same kind of "Turbo" questions until I got smart and removed the "Turbo" emblem off my own Coupe. I no longer feel like a "Turbo Wanna-be". Now I’m free to explain the uniqueness of M491 optioned Carreras! Any enthusiasts or owners who haven’t visited our site, please check out the Factory Turbo-Look Gruppe and join our Turbo-Look/M491 Register as 87turbolook911 recommends. It's informative, has an active message board and a great photo section!

Why dont you just pick up a used Turbo engine, stick it in there and be done with the debate?

Ahhhh, the beauty of a Factory Turbo-Look is the "Look" with all the turbo under-pinnings without the turbo hassles. They are a bit more exclusive considering there were about ten times as many Turbos produced as N/A M491 optioned Carreras! I do like having "a sheep in wolf’s clothing" that handles the twisties and stops better than a "narrow body"... heh heh And besides, 0-60 mph in 5.9 sec isn't too bad either...

Take off the turbo badge. It's like a honda kid putting a type R sticker on his ls integra. It just seems like the car is pretending to be something it's not.
