Intro, Belated and longish

I have been reading this BBS almost daily for the past year or so but have only put on a couple of posts. I have found the forum both fascinating and addictive. I am really quite impressed with how helpful everyone is. After having purchased and tinkered on two 1984 Carreras over the last four years I have in the last year started embarking on a very ambitious project. I am going to attempt to build up a 1968 SWB. My current thought is to build a minimalist trim 911R of sorts. I would love some feedback on direction and I have several questions about what parts I may be able to use off a 1973 parts car I have.

So first thing s first. I know it is protocol to put up the pic's.
I have redone the top end of the 84 cab and installed SSI's, SW chip and sport pipe as well as rebuilt the door panels, pockets and installed sport seats out of a wreck. On the 84 Coupe I have replaced all seals on the engine and detailed it. I have installed SSI's, sport pipe, SW chip, Rennshift kit, rear coupler, SS brake lines and 22mm rear sway bar. I have used the Coupe on the track and love it.

My dream car is a fast light SWB with lots of power. Think Chris Neilson, Bob Tilton and Rich Lambert. I already have a wicked engine and good tranny. This is where I need advice. I have a 1968 912 tub and its pretty rough on the bottom. It sat for a long time with bad weather seals so although the top of the car is pretty sound the floor and passenger sill are absolutely rotten as well as the front pan. It was also hit in the front driver's corner and the repair has rusted. I will say at this point that although I can turn a wrench, I really depend on a best buddy who is very, very talented for all the tough stuff. I stick to the labour intensive, relatively easy and doable with a beer stuff. I need to get the tub sound and I need to make a few decisions. My 68 front valence is toast. Would it be just wrong to use the valence from the 73? It's got kind of a spoiler but if I clean off all the trim bits will it look too heavy for a SWB? I have 3 deep sixes and 2 flat sixes. Would it be OK to put deep sixes on the front and flats on the back? If I leave the back quarters original, can I get 205's on it? Should I graft on the rear small flares from the 73 sort of like Bob Tilton's? Can I use any part of the front wings off the 73 to repair the 68? pictures:

Ok here is the best part, I have purchased an engine from another Pelicanite and I am really excited about it. It was built by Henry at Supertec but has not yet ever been installed successfully. My buddy Larry seems to have it running pretty good on a jig so I am optimistic. It is a 1970 2.2 rebuilt out to 2.4 with s cams and MFI. It keeps me awake at night.

I am open to any and all suggestions.

Welcome and good luck. Others will have advice on your questions.
