Partial Eng Drop - How Far?

I will be replacing more chain case seal this weekend and pulling the belt pulley. I will need to drop the back of the engine a few inches. I am trying to determine how far I can drop it without doing any damage to the shift linkage. I have a G50 and the solid rubber joint. Can I get 3-5" without hurting anything?

Thanks for your help.

I would just disconnect the shift linkage. Easy to do. Get a Sharpie marker and mark the linkage and the joint with a line so you can easily put it back where it was when you disconnected.
