the drop link shoud be attached to a 'u' tab welded on the top side of your control arm.
of course, it should 'drop' down from the lever that's bolted to the blunt end of the pass-through bar. Bill K

The early sway bar is not a bent shape swaybar like the later model cars. It is a straight bar that has removable arms that clamp on to the end of the sway bar. As Bill said the drop links come off of the arms and down to u tabs that are weled on to the A-arms.
If there is no sway bar in the car you will need to drill the holes in the body (Not a huge deal since the tub has pressings to mark the location). I would recommend getting an aftermarket kit that has the "back side" mounting hardware.

Your 70T may already have the body drilled and the backing attatched--my 69 912s both did. You can simply remove the cover plate bolts, and the plate/bushing for the through-the-body bar bolts right up. Same with the attatchment points on the A arms, my early cars already had them, no welding necessary. Not sure on a 70, but I belived things remained the same until the body changes in 74. Take a look and let us know.

Ossiblue is correct you should and will (99% sure) have the hole and the 3 mounting holes, (triangle plate most likly has undercoating on it, pull 3 bolts out (13mm) and use a screw driver to hit the seam and it will come off.
Just put a 20mm bar on the 71 T a couple weeks ago. The T as a cost savings had the bar eliminated, What a place to save $$ Try here for kits expecially easy to find "stock' set up I think 16mm bar and fixed length arms with drop links. I happen to like the Wmeister drop link bushing kit our sponsor sells, firmer than the stock rubber and pretty damn cheap$$. You also have a good chance of having the "U" tab on the A arm in 70 (71 had them) you can check that with the tires still on. Also some good a.market kits available here too, adjustable arms ect, Picked my kit up at Hershey this spring but just got the car back on the road about a month ago. Good luck Last edited by JerryL; 09-25-2009 at 08:13 PM.. |
