Same scenario if you buy my chips through Pelican, they will gather more info, and if needed direct the customer to speak with me directly if they have a radical configuration. Regards, Russell |
cool, I am planning to swap to an ssi set up. just have to settle on the muffler type.

just waiting to hear from the shop doing the rebuid. going to be there on friday to drop off my car and sort out the details.

Tony 9704, Which chip did you decide on? What's your take on all the debate......any conclusions? This reminds me of a "which-motor-oil-to-use-discussion".......lol

First, SW makes a great proven chip. It is backed by many, many dyno runs and other concrete inputs. He dose increase low end drivability to a significant extent but he dose not seem to take unnecessary risks in terms of how close he is willing to run near the edge. However, under his "custom chip" option that mightt be a different story.
Now, there is performance potential advantage with tuning a motor to run on 91 obtain compared to with race fuel. How much more, using SW's numbers one mightt say that on a full on 3.2 that has been blueprinted and is running a full race exhaust peak HP mightt go from 260 to 270hp using factory equivalent HP rating. However, on a street build with loud but lesser developed exhaust it might be something like 5 hp. Note that past about 5k rpm the 3.2 Motronics can no longer sense variations in air flow. Thus all chips are only going to be able to send a fixed amount of fuel at each WOT rpm point. Thus, if you are flowing different numbers from the chip tuners expectation, your AFR's will be different than expected. I like the 911CHIPS.com "custom chip" option for this reason. He re-tunes the chip based on the results of your dyno AFR numbers. |

Having started in the turbo world years ago, I currently have 90 something versions for various configurations as the turbo guys do some radical things to their cars. So nearly every turbo chip is a custom chip. In contrast, custom tuning a normally aspirated car is pretty easy. Currently there are over 800 turbo cars running my products, and my product base is constantly growing. The newest editions in the coming months will be the 968, 964, 993, and eventually I'm going to develop a turbo kit for the 3.2L 911. Regards, Russell |
Sorry guys, I chickened out. I've made no decision yet. I was attracted to the lower cost RB chip, but couldn't let a discounted price rush me into the decision. Thanks for all the input from everyone. Both tuners are super nice guys and I'm sure they are both quality products. Keep us updated Newfie after your test runs.
Russell, for sure keep the Pelicans updated on the progress of your turbo kit! That would be beyond cool to have more options in this area. How about a kit that can use a stock 930 exhaust to save us some dough? |
I would love to see a reasionable pressure senseing conversion for a 3.2 that adds a TPS.
The one out there is quite expensive. |

Steve, I wasn't aware of that. Do I need to send you the chip?

RB's Chip
Installed MaxHp chip and here are my observations over stock. Smoother idle at start up. More low end power without waiting. I seem to get above 6000 RPM more often driving. I seem to be smiling more and occasionally giggling when driving. I haven't touched a ton in a couple of months and I was there twice today. "Whoa big fella, slow down or it's ticket time". Got radar detector from under seat and remounted. Chips are like steaks, people who like them, like them different ways. But we all like steaks!

Here is a MAF conversion that is just dying to be matched with a good chip so it can see its potental.

I have SW chip, fabspeed bypass, cold air intake and run Sunoco 94 octane. The car flies through 3rd and 4th. when I shift from third the revs are at 6100 and fourth starts at 4000 rpm. I had Autothority chip, it's a 24 pin if anyone wants to buy it! It'll make a nice broach for the wife.
