73' Factory RS and RSR bodywork: which parts were fiberglass?
I was wondering which parts were made of fiberglass on each.
I was under the impression that the RS was all metal with no fiberglass at all except for the duck tail? What about the RSR? which parts came from the factory in fiberglass? I heard that all RSRs came with fiberglass rear flares which seems odd to me.

The front spoiler on the Touring, Lightweight, and RSR are FG. Yes, the flairs on the the RSR were also FG.

Was there ever a factory RSR with steel flares?

Ooops.....
Checked the Carrera RS book and the 2.8L RSR had steel flares that were welded on. I must be thinking of the later RSR.

The rear bumper on the M471 (Lightweight) & M491 (RSR) models were one-piece grp items too.

I once had the front fenders from one of the original IROCs (the Follmer car) and they had steel flares (crudely) welded on with a fair amount of bondo to cover the rough welding. Changed my mind forever about Porsche factory standards...
I will say that the Porsche factory bondo had micro capsules to keep its weight down, though.

73 RSR had steel fenders, steel rear quarters, steel doors, 'glass bumpers, lids
74 IROC cars were essentially gussied up RS 3.0 with a bigger rims, race engine, rollbar, no interior. So fenders, doors, rear quarters were steel. 74-75 RSR's started with a steel front fender, over which the race department cut away as needed to graft on the vent section and the flares- a very time consuming process, and if you saw a RSR up close as delivered, the wavy bodywork would have appalled you. Rear Quarters on the 74-75 were fiberglass. Bumpers, lids were fiberglass

so a correct-clone (almost an oxymoron) would actually have steel fenders and rear quarters, everything else fiberglass (hood, duck and f/r bumpers). Does anyone make a copy of the rear flares in steel? I'm guessing a real set of steel RSR rear flares would cost some $$$.
