a/c condeser blower vs batterie

Just replaced my small battery with the bigger one. It is interfering with the ac condenser blower, so I removed it since I am never using the a/c. The a/c seems to be factory or dealer installed. This 88 Carrera 2 Cabriolet is also equipped with power windows and power top. Would it not make sense to have the bigger battery ? So why would it not fit ?I was never to happy with the small one.
I am also contemplating to remove the compressor belt, it seems to make a "churning" sound, the belt is ok. Any disadvantage to that ?

My battery just barely fits. I have an after-market fan with a slightly bulkier fan body. I was able to mount it slightly crooked and get it all to fit. Make sure your battery is under the fixed hold-down bracket.
In your case, why not just remove the fan, and cover the intake hole? You don't use a/c.
Good luck,
Dave

88A Battery

These boat anchors are a mess to deal with when replacing either the front condenser fan, or the battery.

Also a bit hard on the alternator.

Not sure why Porsche specified this large Amperage battery.

......that is exactly what I did, now I am wondering if it is ok to remove the compressor belt, or leave well enough alone ?!

It's super easy to remove compressor belt. 3 bolts and release a tightening bolt. You could also just cut the belt, since it is probably old, and will be even older when you ever want it again.

the battery size is only for starting, and by size i mean CCA, cold cranking amps.
the alternator is what is important, they are rated in amps.
i put a smaller (physically) battery in my car.

i would leave the AC stuff. its not a race car and some day you may want it or if you sell it its still in there

If your AC does not work and you are OK with sweating just cut the AC compressor belt.
