Photoshop please :D
Hi all, i did some searching through the picture threads but my luck didnt hold out for what i was looking for...
the front valence of my car is pretty chipped up(lets face it, the front in general is, but the hood/bumper isnt near as bad as the valence) a local body shop quoted a semi-gloss black paint at about half the price of matching to the red... i was wondering if someone could photoshop my front valence(everything under the accordions, etc), the sides(under the black rubber strip) and the rear valence(under the accordions) with a semi gloss? i think the 2 tone look would be kinda cool but i'd have to see it before i do it! Thanks! ![]()

Buy a couple of cans of rubberized undercoating, blue masking tape and last sunday's old newspaper. Get to it!

Just a suggestion, but what if you installed the script, and then painted your bumpers and then everything under the line between bumpers, then removed the script so it reveals the red.
Brando, could I get a PS favor from you sometime today? I have to dig up the right photo first.

already have the script on it, but paint the bumpers too? that may look really good (if i remove the script and want it back its no big deal cause i have a friend in the vinyl business...) the lighting the day of that picture made the script fade a little, the car isnt as shiny as it would be on a sunny day.(even with 30 year old paint!) lol

i don't think it looks bad but it does make the car look much shorter and smaller as well.

i guess my main reason for wanting to do this is the front is terribly rock chipped and i kinda want to prevent deep rusting... i was considering rhino lining but since you said there's some spray on undercoating that may be another option. could i bother someone to photoshop with and without script and include the bumpers in the black paint? you guys are awesome!

Go to your FLAPS (Kragen or Pep Boys) and buy it. Two cans should give you enough to coat those areas pretty well. Be sure to rough up the surface you're coating with some 800 grit first, wipe with alcohol and let it dry for more than a 4 hours!
As for photoshop requests... Just PM me or make a post! I'm sure lots of people want to try their hand at it ![]()

I should note that another way to test out paint jobs is any good racing game; Forza 2 (or the upcoming Forza 3), for example. I've had a lot of fun doing tasteful two-tone paint jobs and stripes without having to worry about my Photoshop perspective and lighting skills!

thats a good call! i dont think i know anyone w/ Forza2 though... My friend in the vinyl business said he could do like a black vinil bra on forementioned parts. im wondering if that would be worth it?

Just my 2 cents but the last 3 make the body look like it's floating in the air...or rather higher off of the ground. The first one with the painted lower valence and rockers gets my vote as long as you are going to use black.

if i had to pick from those 3 i say 3. i still think it makes the car look shorter and smaller overall.

Great photoshop work....my vote is for the first pic posted...the bumpers black would look funny from their respected head on angles.
So you know you can now buy 2k Urethane in a spray can and it lasts 24 hours (plenty of time to do 4-6 coats). Since black undersides show more abuse ya might want to look into it. Cans are only like $20/ea |
