YEAH.....try THIS in your 911!
Hi, I'm Normy. I drive a Porsche 928S2.
I want to make this clear: this is not some sort of attack, this is just a friendly "poke in the ribs" to all you folks who think that the engine should be at the wrong end of the car. Ok? -EH HEH HEH HEH~ But I do want to post some pictures that will illustrate the basic superiority of project 928. You see, yesterday, I realized that my Whirlpool washing machine had died. It is about 12 years old, so it is too old to repair. I took it apart but couldn't see anything obvious, and the wiring diagrams inside the thing were akin to Swahili, and I'm used to looking at wiring. I can't fix it. Buy another new one? Well, I just spent $30,000 on a new kitchen for my house...I'm tapped out right now, and if I buy a new one it will be one of the new front-loaders. solution: Buy one from the local thrift store. Down to the "Faith Farm" I went, me the famous athiest. Well, if they have what I want then fine. If they save me money, then I'm happy to take advantage of them. I found an EXACT replica of my dead Whirlpool washer, on the CHEAP. But they were closing.... "Yeah, we can save it for tomorrow, but do you have a truck or hatch-back car?" I was like "Yes, it's a Porsche" ::silence:: Me: "Well, it has a big hatch...I bet it would fit" -So I drove my 928 around to the loading dock and two big guys indeed....loaded a washing machine into my 928 tonight. I only had to drive about 1 mile to my house, and then using the floor mat, I unloaded it. Now....I like the 911 cars [I'm afraid of "trailing throttle overstear"] but I simply like the shapes of the 928 and 944 better. And they are FAR more practical! You guys and gals b safe! By the way...did I mention that my 928 has turned high 13 second quarter miles and is probably capable of 170 mph?
heh heh! |
I want to know what sniper puts in his 928
BTW - the original conception for th e911 had a hatchback - not realized until the 996 targa |
why didn't you use your ford pick-em-up truck?
|
You are aware that Home Depot rents flatbed trucks for $19 bucks for 75 minutes?
But then I guess you didn't need it! Heh Heh.:D --- Tom '75 Targa (+ S6 Avant to haul stuff) |
Looks like that 928 and its owner have something in common, how cute.

I think it improves both appearance and performance of your 928! Kudos... (poke poke)

Now you've gone and done it..
Jim Bob:"hey can you help a brother move this weekend?" Me: "Oh, I'm sorry I have a hot date with my 911" Jim Bob: "how about you, Normy!?" Normy:"Oh, uh.. U did see my post on Pelican the other day about how I can move heavy appliances in my P-car? Umm I guess I could help out." |
Great looking 928. Yeah, I was thinking about getting one for runs to home depot or to get mulch. Probably a great car to take to the dump too.

How often do you need to move a washing machine?

Hey Normy, Thanks for the fun post!
My 911SC is my only car...you should see the looks when collecting 8' 2x4's from Home Depot. They stick WAY out of the sunroof. I need a 928 I guess. I pulled a similar stunt getting a 5hp 30gallon compressor home from Harbor Fright in a Miata one time...put down the roof and laid it flat across the trunk, straped it to the shock tower stabalizer bar. You own a 928, you should be a Master of wiring..
The 928 is the Porsche electrical storm. Nice car for sure it always bothered me that a clapped out 911 of the same vintage was always worth about 2-3 times of a nice 928. Yasin |
I hauled 26 1/2" 4'x12' sheets of dryrock in my VW van once. Those are 100 lbs per sheet, do the math.
Steered funny - front wheels hardly touched the ground. Walt |
I put a ten speed bicycle in the back of my 996, and I have hauled a big thing in the back of my 911. I can't remember now what it was but I remember saying "try that in your Ferrari".
I'm duly impressed though...nice sled. |
