Need advice on tweeter placement in doors

Hi folks, I would like to install a set of component speakers in my '83SC but rather than attaching the speakers to the outside of the door cards I would like to mount them directly to the metal inner door panel. My new door cards will have cutouts to clear the speakers and will be covered with a lightweight cloth so I am not real concerned about the impact on sound quality. The woofer will be a 5 1/4 inch driver that will mount in the stock hole in the door. My issue is where to place the tweeter such that it will not interfere with the window operation (electric windows) and still provide decent sound. Has anyone done this before who can share some pictures of where you placed the tweeter? Cheers, John

i am sure it would be possible to cut some of the metal out of the door but for the effort and mutilation of the door i would not. if you want flush mounted tweets you are going to have to do it. you can look over the pics in this thread to get an idea of what you will be working with.

There is a large indentation in the door below the window switches which is good for tweeter recessing.

I like that idea best. I am going for an early Carrera look and modern tweeters sticking out would ruin it. Thanks Ian.
