3.6 Engine Identifier

The 83 SC I recently purchased has a 3.6 with PMO's and an Electomotove crank fired dual plug setup. The engine number on the front piece of the case running up and down is *64S01110* Can anyone help ID this engine (eg year made, etc). I was told that it had been a Porsche Motor Sports Longblock that had been sealed wrapped and crated for several years before being modified and put in the SC, I have also been told that it has hydraulic valves which baffled a fellow at Caffene and Octane in Atlanta this past Sunday. I'm a early 911 and 356 guy and don't have any reference material or knowledgee of these later engines. Any info or help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill

64S01110
corresponds to a US M64/07 3.6 used in MY95 993.

yes, it should have hyd lifters.

as far as being a PMS item, I doubt it.

Thanks for the info Bill. It's a good place to start from. I know the PO pretty well and will get more info from him.
