opinions on how cooling fan assm should look like
I am interested in opinions on what the cooling fan assm should look line. IE natural finish or coated to match shroud or body color . I have seen both and although not "correct" I lean towards color matched. How about you ?

I think natural magnesium with the correct yellow plating on the hub is best. I really dont like it when the whole fan is painted including the center hub that is riveted on. If the fan is painted but the hub is correctly plated that looks nice also. That said, Im not sure of the best way to do it. Would love to hear ideas since Im getting ready to do it.

it's your car, do whatever suits you.
FWIW, many have their fan and shroud painted, and it looks great. Many others say that the paint will eventually flake, with the possibility of peeled paint getting sucked into your motor. If true, that doesn't sound good. Others have their fans media-blasted for a polished look, which also looks great...but needs frequent re-polishing to maintain that appearance. I went "ghetto"...I spent about 2 hours with some "NevrDull" cotton wadding. Cleaned up the dirty magnesium very well, and maintenance is minimal.

I agree but … Exactly as original is best, IMHO. These are well engineered parts and no one has ever offered any improvement. That said, there is a choice of Porsche parts. The combination of pieces that gives the 245 mm, 11-blade fan turning 1.82:1 of the crankshaft speed is the best. I have that on my 2.0 normal. Best, Grady

I prefer older cars be stock myself, just cleaned up. But it is your car, and some newer ones with painted fan and shroud do look good.
