ebrake and triling arm issue....need help
Hi all,
Ran into problems with the ebrake support plate and bearing retainer plate when upgrading from a '73.5 steel trailing arm to '76 aluminum trailing arms. The old '73 ebrake plate and retainer plates with the 4 holes do not match up to the '76 trailing arms. The 4 bolt pattern on the '76 is just a bit larger than the plates and the support plate does not fit over the hub of the trailing arm. I need these pieces that will fit up to the '76 arms. I thought all my research here confirmed that it would be a simple swap out with all other parts fitting up to a '73.5. Not so I guess. And if anyone knows anything else I might need to change out, please let me know. ![]()

I am in the midst of re-doing my suspension and brakes ('85 Carrera) and I was literally cleaning those parts this week... They look the same to me. However, When I look on PET, the part numbers are indeed different:
Parking brake supporting plate: 1985: 911 352 081 30 1973: 911 352 081 14 Bearing cover plate: 1985: 911 331 561 30 1973: 911 331 561 00 Hope that helps... |

Been there done that...pieces are indeed different. If this is going to be a track car then check into a reinforced bearing cover plate. Just as an FYI, you need to change the rear hubs too. Otherwise the rotor/caliper alignment will be off.

Thanks amjf088 and Fast Corners, I did not relaize the parts were slightly different and now need to locate the correct pieces.
FC, it will be a track car and I am not familar with reinforced bearing cover plates. I will do some searching as it sounds interesting. I planned on using the rear hubs and inner flanges but the rotors and calipers have been replaced with 930's (modified by VCI) so I am hoping it will be correctly aligned. I know that I will also have to trim off the tabs on the trailing arms do to an interference fit-up. Thanks for the FYI, always appreciate greater knowledge.
