I found a new "ultimate lust machine". Actually, the 997 GT3 was already on the list, but I found just the right combination of elements courtesy of that show.
A Mexico Blue 997 GT3. Black interior with bright white stitching from head to toe. Gimme gimme.

It was interesting seeing a woman assembling an engine, not sure why, but not exactly what I would imagine.

I loved the small clips of the red one getting sideways through the corners.
That was awesome! Gave me goose bumps! |

Those clips were good but I wish they would not have shown the same one about 30 times. I was disappointed that they did not even mention the words air cooled at any point during the program. Also wish they would have had more detail during some of the explanations. Seeing the body shells going across the glass bridge was amazing. Wish I could commute on that street everyday. One thing about the program was confusing though. I recall them saying that about 110 911s are built everyday and that the engine shop builds around 300 engines a day. Does that mean that around 200 Boxsters and Caymens are produced everyday?

That was one of the best "Ultimate Factories" shows done yet. Very smooth continuity, content, heritage, techno. They managed to produce a show that had something for every viewer, leaving most wanting a lil more. That is the sign of a good show

Also from my local PCA pres: The Independent Film Channel (IFC) will re-air their 30 minute documentary called 'Welcome to the Family'. Originally shown on Oct 15, this documentary features interviews with seven Porsche enthusiasts including comedian Jerry Seinfeld, Porsche designer Freeman Thomas, retired pharmacist Hank Kramer, professional photographer and Jazz Musician Mike Jones, a Spec Boxster female racer, the care-taker of Seinfeld's cars, and our own Heart O' Dixie Region Club President Jim Cambron According to Jim, the Porsche film crew gathered about 15 hours of coverage of him and his wife Suki at last summer's Keystone Porsche Parade. Footage included preparation and judging the Concours; preparation, conduct, and conclusion of the TSD Rally; and portions from a separate two hour interview session. Their Polar Silver 1996 Turbo S is pretty much the featured vehicle in the film and is repeatedly shown throughout all the various scenes. For instance, in the opening and closing scenes of the film it is the silver car driving on the pink roadway toward and from the camera. There is also a scene with Jim explaining the Autocross concept and walking the course with Club member Paul Webb. There are also several scenes that were staged for the camera with Jim driving the Turbo S through the mountains. The film will re-air at the following dates. Check your listings for times: Sun 10/25/09 Wed 10/28/09 Sun 11/01/09 Sat 11/07/09 Thu 11/12/09

Nice show. I could have been two even three hrs. They spent so much time on the freakin paint process and nothing on the 911 legendary braking system or suspension. I thought the engine coverage could have been more detailed as well. I did like the Porsche designed robatic parts delivery system, pretty cool.
Did anyone notice the hot primer paint chick??

it was kind of unusual seeing a girl made up to the nines while she was working on a paint line. great lashes. not that there is anything wrong with that. |
