Reverse Lights do not come on - I need a little help

I checked the bulbs, they are okay. Can anyone post an image of the reverse light switch at the tip of the transmission that I've read about but cannot identify when I'm under there looking up?
Where is the fuse and or relay located as well?
Thanks --- Rob

rob, get a test light, put car in reverse (key on, not running of course) and put it on the bulb contact in the housing. The connector comes unplugged from the switch easily to, go check that. worst case, sombody left the pin out that actuates the switch on a trans rebuild previously.

Don't mean to steal the thread......

has anyone had that pin get stuck and not allow the backup lights to go out? After a tranny/engine re-install my backups were always on. Had to dis-able wires to turn it off.

I've heard of that and the opposite, the pin wears down and does not make contact when reverse is engaged.

Here's a few pictures I nabbed from another thread here somewhere, I'd give credit to the original poster if I could now find the da%& thing. Let us know what you figure out.

Does anyone know where I can find new plug pins for the switch? The wires broke to the switch and really would like to cut the wires and solder in new pins. Cant seem to locate these speciality pins....

I had the same issue with mine. Our host has the pins. Do a search or give them a call. It is an easy repair.

Rob,

There are several locations where you could do your preliminary investigations. These are the locations:
1). Back-up light switch at the end of the transmission housing. Access through the chassis tunnel or above the transmission mount. Not convenient access.
2). Back-up light sockets with the transmission in reverse and ignition ON.
3). Open up the 14-pin connector located at the rear engine fuse panel. Locate pin #5 with yellow/green wire. Chassis side goes to fuse #11 and the engine side goes to F4 (back-up light switch).

Does it matter which wire plugs into which hole on the switch?
