Rough when cold

Hi Guys,
My 87 Carrera like any needs a few miles to warm up. There are some road works near me at the moment and as soon as I pull onto the street I´m stuck in traffic. The problem is when I´m literally doing walking pace in first gear with the cold car she gets a little jumpy. Once I give a slight bit of gas or depress the clutch the problem is gone. The real problem is the traffic but it looks like I´m facing two months of this so apart from letting the car idle in the garage for a while before starting off is their any small adjustment I can do to settle the car down. Sorry if this sounds trivial(the cars not running rich)? Cheers
