John, I hope it turns out for you. It seems like a nice car. But could you, please, try to use correct punctuation when you post? I know how to read, and reading your posts gives me the impression of:

OHMYGODTOTALHYSTERIAFREAKOUTIMLOSINGITRIGHTNOW!!!! !!!!!!.

Calm down, ditch the exclamation points. Use caps when appropriate. Everything will work out. Good luck.

Folks/!!

That's a great photo John. What I see is a nice, clean, iron-barrel original 72T motor. To casual observers, the slightly rusty look gives them away. Is it matching numbers? More pics please.

I don't wish to sound mean, but I'm betting if you wrote a little more clearly then this could be a nice thread to follow. When I mean clearly I'm talking the basics: full stops, paragraphs and all that. I'm sorry for having to point that out, and am far from perfect myself SmileWavy

little humor there. exclamation point, but not...

Not that it's a bad thing (I wish I spoke another language), but I suspect John's 2nd language is "engrish". He may be having difficulty expressing himself, to include grammar and punctuation. And, as most Eastern Europeans are angry at the world, it could explain his attitude.

On the other hand, I smell another UncleBilly...err...I mean "Vageen".

Matt Smith 11-25-2009 09:15 PM

Fwiw, I called Vageen out, knowing I may face the wrath of Dempsey...!! !! !!

Or worse, a ban from Nostatic

Thax for calling him out.......He suckered in a lot of good folks here. I spotted him for day one, called him on it and then Wayne said he as "disappointed" in some of us........Vageen needs to know, this is not "our first rodeo"!!!!!!!!!!!

eapcpa 11-26-2009 04:11 AM

In one of those pics, It looks like it had an engine fire.

BYW: I have no patience for the attitude of this guy. Something smells here.

johnm1469 11-26-2009 04:36 AM

yes the tech said motor had an upgrade of tensioner which was a good sign .. numbers do match so would be nice to keep everything matching. seems to me once i get this motor rebuilt nothing else could go wrong.if anyone has heat exchangers for sale give me a private email with photos. if i decide to rebuild might as well go all the way.heat exchangers must fit 1973.5 carbsSmileWavy

Hey, just a thought, but while you're in there......................
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

E Sully 11-26-2009 05:28 AM

johnm, What is your engine serial #? If this is a 73.5 it should have had CIS injection, not carbs. Updated pressure fed tensioners look like attached pic.
Matt Smith, 73.5T originaly had iron barrels.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1259245690.jpg

johnm1469 11-26-2009 06:22 AM

yes the carbs are not original. i never said the carbs were. the tech mech said my tensioners are an upgrade and within 10 years. i personlly are no pro on these cars and thats why it is a pros-shop. i'm only relaying what he told me.once he rips down the motor we will know what happened and the cause. the tech checked the numbers and said it was the original numbers on motor.

RWebb 11-26-2009 11:06 AM

think about hot rod mods since you have to tear it down anyway, you may as well build it up good.

carb type cams are one thing to be sure of

for more $$ could build to a 2.5L or 2.7L

sorry you had this happen, but your fixed motor could go 200k miles

Formerly Steve Wilkinson 12-01-2009 09:18 AM

And the update on the teardown is...?
