Which color please (911 2.4T 1972) ?

Hello
My name is Lionel, and I come from France.
I don't speak english very well, but I hope you'll understand what I mean ...

So, quickly ... I've a 911 carrera 3.0 Coupé 1977 (never sold in US), Diamant green 266
a Speedster 3.2 1989 widebody grey
and I've just bought yesterday a 911 2.4T (from US) coupé 1972

My question is about this 2.4T
It has been repainted in another color, red, but I don't think it's the bahia red ...
maybe Rose Red (or Fraise or strawberry ...), 024

I show you few fotos

Tell me what you think about this color ...
and if you could post other fotos of the samecolor, it woild be very nice

Best regards.
Lionel

To me, the color is just OK. If it were me and I were on the path to restoring the car, I would repaint it the original color. But that's just how I am.
Good Luck!

It could be India red or Guards red, but it is not Rose red.
What is the original color code on the badge?

That looks very similar to my car, which I believe is the pre-cursor to what we all know as guards red. It's more of a cherry red, and kind of reminds me of 60s American cars, particularly Mustangs. Mine was originally 018, tangerine, and was repainted by a previous owner, so I have no idea where he got the colour from.

my car:

yes, I know this web site, but the fotos of the cars are very small, and it's difficult to compare the colors between my 911 and the other cars showed on the web site

that's why I prefer ask somebody here who could have the same color

I enjoy either yellow 911s, but my car has been repainted 2 years ago, so I will wait few years before changing the color, but when it will be necessary (rust ...) the new color will be the original yellow !!!

I always thought that Guards Red and India Red are the same color. The German is Indischrott which is literally India Red but is referred to in English brochures as Guards Red.

Your car looks like Bahia Red to me but lighting can make a big difference in photos. See this link.
http://www.356-911.com/modelinfo/911colours/911colours7173.htm

The pictures I have seen of fraise are more pink than red. See this one....

BTW I got these links from Googling "Porsche 911 fraise"

Cheers, John

Yes John, I agree with you : Fraise is really pink

a friend of me has a Bahia Red, and "my red" seems to be more clear than its

I'll take other fotos this week-end, when the will be at home !!!

Hi and welcome, Lionel! Beautiful car, in any color - but I am biased .

Do you see a paint number plate in the front door post of the left side of the car? If the plate is still present on your car, we can decode for sure.

Lionel,

My 73 911t targa appears to have gone the exact same route as far as color change goes. It was originally gold metallic and then at some point the previous owner painted it the same color of red as yours. I'm looking forward to getting a new coat of paint on it and will most likely return it to the original color.

best,

Michael

Bonjour! I have to say, that gold is pretty amazing looking on an early car. Definitely take it back to the original.
