Porsche Crest Porsche sure is proud of their windshield!!!!!!

Getting ready to address some very small rust issues at bottom of windshield, once I locate a body shop I'm comfortable with. Will be replacing windshield (old one is pitted badly) and seal. It's an '89, manufactured in March/April of '89 so it definitely requires the 964 seal (no trim,..just rubber).

Just to share:

Call Hennessey Porsche/Atlanta, and was quoted:

Windshield Seal: $189.67,... $170.70 with PCA discount

Windshield: $ 802.14,...$ 681.82 with PCA discount (shipping would be $140.00, but I could pick it up)

Guess I'll be looking elsewhere for the windshield as this is quite steep, don't you think? ,..at present, it's SIGLA with antenna at passenger side. Will have to reread the threads on Windshield Suppliers/pricing...any experiences to share?

Best (and thanks) to all,

Doyle

Sorry Steve. I made a typo. 964=$450 911=$250 (Both prices as of this summer.)

The OEM glass is much more expensive then the aftermarket glass but the consensus is that the aftermarket glass is more chip resistant.

Check out the price Porsche wants for a new Targa top. You can buy very nice a used top with a nice car attached for the same price.

Why not go with a 993 windshield and seal? The windshield is more expensive than a 911 or 964, but I remember reading that it seals much better than either of those in a 911.

Does anyone have any experience of putting a 993 windshield and seal in a 911?

Greg

PPG seems to be a lot cheaper then the OEM.

993 glass is glued in. Not that easy to retro fit from what I have read, but is possible.

« Select a different vehicle
Below is your price on a Windshield for a
1989 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Door Coupe
Windshield with Antenna NOT Installed Price:

for my 83 sc (i used convertible as i assume they would classify a targa as such) i got:

Year of Vehicle: Make of Vehicle:
1983 Porsche

Model: Style:
911 2 Door Convertible

« Select a different vehicle
Below is your price on a Windshield for a

That's nothing - my insurance company paid over $4000 for a new 944 front screen about 10 years ago.

I installed 1988 Sigla myself cost $275 in 2003

If this is Sigla with an antenna it's not a good price for a 1988

if it's a PPG it's not imo

The Sigla and PPG have a different width on the top sunshade band. The Sigla hides a V-1 on the visor nicely and the PPG doesn't.

In my O/Post, a windshield was quoted from Porsche.....who's windshield would that be? SIGLA, Sekurit, etc? (i.e., "what is "factory"?)

I'm not so sure this is the case, post 10/88 runs. Correct me if I'm wrong. I was told the windshield changed mid month 10/88 production run....lips were different sizes....posted in many threads here on the everso bountiful Pelican University...
