Whoa, please confirm the number. What is the type number (close on the case)? What are the numbers and date code on the bottom sides of the case? Any other numbers? Best, Grady

USA model. 180hp@5500rpm & 245tq/4200... That being said, serial # 6400000+ also correlates to a 914/6 ![]() So you'll need to check for the engine model # for sure! If it's 901/37 you've got a pretty cool engine there! Details on the 914/6: MY 1970, Weber 40 IDA carbs, 110hp@5800 rpm & 157tq@4200 rpm, 8.6:1 cr check it out and get back to us ![]()

I think the 64Dxxxx is what he was looking at, that would make it sound more likely a viable number.

I am reviving this thread because of Grady's curious reaction ("Whoa, please confirm the number"), and something that appeared in the For Sale forum.
Clearly, that engine# struck a chord with an acknowledged expert. Now look at the For Sale links below: 1973 911E coupe 1969 911E coupe It appears the seller isn't too familiar with Porsches and probably made a simple mistake listing the same engine for both cars--that's not my point. My point is the engine# being one digit away from the one posted on this thread. Grady's comment makes me think the engine, 6401364 could be something special. The engine in the ads is one digit away. It seems that other numbers are required to confirm the uniqueness of 6401364 but it was never clarified in this thread what the other numbers would determine. Could someone post what may be special about either engine, and what other numbers would confirm that uniqueness?
