1980 SC max tire size/ about due for new shoes

Thanks to all. I believe I have 7 and 8x16 fusch wheels... that beaning said what is the widest tires size that I can run taking in to account stock/ not rolled fenders. Currently, the 911 is running Potenza 205/55 front and 225/50 rear.

205's on 7's are it for the front unless you roll the front fender and dial in a lot of neg camber.

245's should fit on 8's on the rear if you have say -2.5 neg camber in the rear. I had 245's on 9's on the rear with lots of clearance. However, I think the 8's might move the tire to the outside a little.

There are a lot of great 205/225-16 tires out there (Dunlop, Bridgstone, Kumho). Not many 245 choices though Toyo makes some good tires.

The best streetable DE tre seems to be 225/245 Toyo RA1's if you can get the car set up for them.

I ran the Dunlop Z1's on 7&8's and loved them. Lots of room on my car w -1.5/-2.5 camber.

That pic is very random.

I run 245/45 on 8 inch rear wheels with 21mm spacers and I have no problem with clearance, in or outboard.

Tires are Sumitomo HTRz. Excellent tire, especially for the price. they are NOT an all season tire, however.

Hey thanks for the info...do you have a source for the spacers? Is there a number on a fusch that indicates width? I can find a way to measure with the tire on but just wanted to know if there was and easy way. Again thanks for your time and knowledge.

Regards-

JS

Thanks.

The fronts are 205/55 on 7's. Yiu will find the width, diameter, and offset(ET) stamped on the back side of the wheels. 7J x16, 8Jx16

My spacers came from Boothe when I had Cup wheels.

I used his adapters to make up for the offset and I kept the 21mm spacers when I sold that setup. You can find that size spacer just about anywhere, including the PP classifieds for used ones or buy new from Pelican.

Hello,
It's FUCHS, single or plural and means Fox, pronounced: Fooks.

It would help if you'd show a picture of the wheels; we can usually see if they're 7's and 8's or 6's and 7's.

The SC came stock with 15" Fuchs 6's and 7's and 16" was an option.

Before you order any tires, make sure what wheels you have.
If they're 7's and 8's, you don't need spacers because they fill out the wells very nicely even with stock tires. Nothing wrong with 205's front and 225's rear.

So, either the Fuchs numbers on the inside of the wheels, or a clear picture showing front and rear will clarify what wheels you have.

Cup II Adapters

Wayne,

Your SC looks sweet. I've got some questions for you regarding adapters for Cups. Don't want to hijack, so I sent you a PM.

Happy Ho, ho, ho................

Any chance for a picture showing the silver SC from the side so we can see the size of the Fuchs wheels?
