Reversing wiper park position

his post "Reversed my wipers this morning, just 10 minutes", October 27, 2008.
Today, I finally reversed my wipers to park on the right, passenger side.
Thanks to your post from last year it went quickly.
Pulling the speedo and tach on my '85 911 gave me all the access I needed.
A 13mm wrench to loosen the nut and a 17mm to hold the arm was all I needed.
I was reminded to do this while driving in the rain a few days ago.
The wiper in the intermittent mode, kept leaving a few drops right in the middle of my vision.
Parking the wipers on the passenger side eliminates this.
Another benefit is the drivers side wiper rests flat on the windshield, so it doesn't leave that missed middle portion when the wipers are cold.
It took me a little more than 10 minutes because the 13mm nut was tight.
I had to hold the arm with a 17mm wrench.
When I was done, I turned the speedo slightly to the left, so I can now see 80 to 100 mph. I've got the smaller 930 steering wheel, which blocks the view of the speedo.

!0 minutes... where was that thread when i did mine this Summer ?

It took me over three hours as i did it by the trunk as per 101 projects !
Had a sore butt for two days from trying to lie/kneel down in the trunk to remove
all kinds of stuff for access !

Anyhow,it was worth it as like you say it improves the view,although you didn't mention bending the right side wiper arm the other way ...
That had to take an extra 10 minutes ... lol

I reversed the driver's wiper and removed the passenger's. Let them eat raindrops.

I know this thread will set John Cramer's teeth on edge (and God bless you John I usually agree with your advice), but having the wipers park on the right does eliminate that annoying streak right in front of the driver that is left as the passenger wiper parks. It is worst in intermittent conditions or when cleaning the windshield.

John's aurgument is that when driving through a blizzard the wipers on the left prevent globs of snow building up in front of the driver. Realistically this is not a problem for me, as I don't usually drive the car in blizzard conditions.

For me, switching positions was not a fashion statement and not to increase visability (seems to me if you're looking through the wipers, you're not looking far enough down the road). It was purely to get rid of that damn streak. It became apparent after the switch that a longer wiper blade would fit on the driver's side, so I fitted an 18" blade, and left the 14" on the passengers side and it works great. For me a very satisfying modification.
